A large FMCG client of where I worked were in the concept and R&D stage of producing a perfume as a brand extension project.
I was provided a name, from which I was tasked to visualise a concept brand mark, bottle design and experiential microsite.
The insight was that the language around scent is similar to the language of music – top notes, middle notes, bass notes. The interaction concept centred around a musical stave. As the user interacted with the stave, the essential elements of that level of the scent would emerge from an undulating wave with accompanying descriptions.
